Plan - Beginning
When students get an assignment or a task, BEFORE they start doing anything, they should think:
  • Task Definition
  • Information Seeking Strategies
  • What am I suppose to do?
  • What will the result look like if I do a really good job?
  • What do I need to make to show what I have learned
  • What do I need to find out about in order to do the job?
  • What is my job?
  • Where can I find the information?
  • How will I know if my work is good?
  • What is my plan?
  • How is it relevant to my life?


Do - Middle
In the Middle the students DO the activity. This is where they read, view, tell, make a picture, etc.
  • Location and Access
  • Use of Information
  • Synthesis
  • How can I do the job?
  • What can I use to find what I need?
  • Now I need to make something to show what I have learned
  • I will find the information needed for the job.
  • I can put the information together to make sense
  • I may read from books, use the computer, take notes, and draw pictures.
  • I will cite my sources of information.


Review - End
Before finishing the product and turning it in, students should stop and think -- Is this done?
  • Evaluation
  • Did I do what I was supposed to do?
  • Do I feel okay about this?
  • Am I proud of my work?
  • Should I do something else before I turn it in?
  • Did I complete the job
  • Have I proofread to make sure it is correct?
  • Is there anything else that needs to be done?
  • What will I do differently next?
  • Did I use my own words?
